Google Voice Pricing Explained (2026)
Google Voice pricing for 2026: free Basic, individual Starter and Standard, team Starter, Standard and Premier per-user rates, and the Workspace requirement.
Short answer: Google Voice for teams costs $10 (Starter, up to 10 users), $20 (Standard) or $30 (Premier) per user per month, and every team plan also requires a Google Workspace subscription, which starts from $7 per user per month for Business Starter. Individuals can use a free Basic plan or pay $10 to $20 per month for more features.
Prices are from Google's Voice product page and Workspace pricing page as checked on October 1, 2026, in US dollars, excluding taxes.
Individual plans
| Plan | Price | What Google lists |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $0/month | A single number for all your devices, unlimited domestic calling and texting; existing mobile number required |
| Starter | $10/month | Everything in Basic plus 24/7 Voice support, number not reclaimed for inactivity, three-way calling, call transfers, call recording, desk phone and ATA support |
| Standard | $20/month (50% off for the first 6 months) | Everything in Starter plus Gemini call notes and auto attendants |
The individual plans are aimed at sole proprietors. They give you a business number that rings your existing devices without a separate SIM.
What the free Basic plan is good for
The $0 Basic plan is a genuine option for one person testing an idea: you get a separate number that rings your devices and can text. Its limits matter for a business, though. It requires an existing mobile number, it is not a shared line, and it lacks the support, transfer and recording features Google reserves for Starter. Google also notes that paid Starter numbers will not be reclaimed for inactivity, which implies the free tier offers no such guarantee. If customers will rely on the number, treat Basic as a trial rather than a long-term home for your business line.
Team plans
| Plan | Price per user/month | User limit | Key additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $10 | Up to 10 | One number for all devices with call forwarding, unlimited domestic calling and US texting, 24/7 support, three-way calling, transfers, call recording, desk phone and ATA support |
| Standard | $20 | Unlimited | Auto attendants and ring groups, call queuing for ring groups, Gemini call notes, eDiscovery for calls, voicemails and texts, unlimited regional billing locations, SIP Link for existing numbers |
| Premier | $30 | Unlimited | Unlimited international billing locations, automatic call recording, transcription and AI notes, advanced reporting with BigQuery |
Google states that team plans require a Google Workspace plan billed separately, and that unlimited calling and texting apply in available markets subject to the acceptable use policy for your edition.
The Workspace requirement
Voice for teams is an add-on, not a standalone phone system. Google's Workspace pricing page lists Business Starter from $7 per user per month, with higher tiers (Business Standard and Business Plus) above that and promotional discounts for new customers on their first users. If you already pay for Workspace for email and documents, Voice is an incremental cost. If you do not, the Workspace fee becomes part of your phone bill.
What teams actually pay
| Team size | Voice Starter | Voice Standard | Voice Premier | Standard + Workspace Starter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 users | $20 | $40 | $60 | $54 |
| 5 users | $50 | $100 | $150 | $135 |
| 10 users | $100 | $200 | $300 | $270 |
| 15 users | Not available (10-user limit) | $300 | $450 | $405 |
The Workspace column uses the $7 Business Starter figure; your actual Workspace cost depends on the tier you pick and any promotion.
Choosing a tier
Starter is for reachability, not routing
Starter gives each person a number with forwarding, recording and support, but no auto attendant or ring groups. It works well if customers call individuals directly. It does not work well for a main business line that should route to whoever is free.
Standard is the realistic business tier
Most small businesses that use Voice as their main phone system end up on Standard, because it adds auto attendants, ring groups and call queuing. At $20 per user, it is competitive with other per-user providers once you account for Workspace already being paid for.
Premier is for compliance and multi-country teams
Premier is aimed at companies that want every call recorded and transcribed automatically, need international billing locations, or want call data in BigQuery. For a small domestic team, it is usually more than necessary.
Costs that are easy to overlook
- Workspace seats for phone-only staff. Every Voice user on a team plan needs a Workspace license, including staff who would not otherwise need Google email.
- The 10-user ceiling on Starter. Growing past 10 forces everyone onto Standard, doubling the Voice cost.
- Promotional pricing. The individual Standard discount lasts six months; Workspace introductory pricing applies to the first users for 12 months. Budget for the standard price.
- Desk phones. Supported on paid plans but purchased separately.
- International calls. Charged per minute outside your domestic allowance.
How Google Voice compares on price
Voice Standard at $20 per user is in the same range as other per-user business phone plans, and Starter at $10 is one of the cheapest options anywhere if you already have Workspace. The difference is the platform requirement: most competitors sell standalone service, while Voice for teams only works inside Workspace.
Callata takes a different approach. It is standalone, so no other subscription is required, and Callata Office costs $99 per month including five users, plus $20 per month for each additional user. That price includes up to three local numbers, unlimited inbound calling and a pooled allowance of 1,500 outbound US and Canada minutes per user per month (then $0.01 per minute), ring groups, extensions and business-hours routing, team texting after a one-time $49 carrier registration, call recording with AI summaries, voicemail transcription with urgency triage, and E911. Optional AI agents bill at $0.25 per minute.
For one to four people already on Workspace, Google Voice Standard costs less ($20 to $80 against $99). From five users, Callata is $1 per month less than Voice Standard alone ($99 against $100 at five users, $199 against $200 at ten), and if you would be buying Workspace Business Starter only for phones, Callata costs less from four users ($99 against $108). Against Premier, Callata costs less from four users ($99 against $120) and $10 less per user beyond five ($199 against $300 at ten); Premier is cheaper for one to three users. Google offers things Callata does not: native apps, desk phone support, eDiscovery, BigQuery reporting and international billing locations.

- Decide whether you need auto attendants or ring groups (Standard and up).
- Check whether your team will grow past Starter's 10-user limit.
- Budget for standard prices after any promotion ends.
- Compare the combined Workspace plus Voice cost against standalone systems.
