Grasshopper Pricing Explained (2026)

Grasshopper pricing for 2026: True Solo, Solo Plus and Small Business plan costs, annual vs monthly billing, extra numbers, extensions and texting fees.

Short answer: Grasshopper charges per plan, not per user: True Solo is $14 per month, Solo Plus $25 and Small Business $55, all billed annually ($168, $300 and $660 per year). Paying month to month costs more, since Grasshopper says annual billing saves over 20%. Texting adds a $19.50 one-time registration fee and $1.50 per month, extra numbers cost $9 per month each, and extra Solo Plus extensions cost $3 per month.

Prices are from grasshopper.com/pricing and Grasshopper's own plan comparison on its blog, checked October 1, 2026. Prices exclude taxes and fees.

The three plans

Plan Annual price Per month (annual) Users Numbers Extensions
True Solo $168 $14 1 1 1
Solo Plus $300 $25 Unlimited 1 3
Small Business $660 $55 Unlimited 4 Unlimited

All three include unlimited business texting, subject to carrier registration. Grasshopper also advertised up to $75 off a first purchase when we checked, alongside a 7-day money-back guarantee and 24/7 support.

True Solo

One number, one extension, one user. This is a second line for a solo owner: your customers call a business number, and Grasshopper forwards it to your phone with a professional greeting.

Solo Plus

Still one number, but three extensions and unlimited users. A small team can share the main line, with callers pressing 1, 2 or 3 to reach a person or department. More extensions cost $3 per month each.

Small Business

Four numbers and unlimited extensions. This suits a business with separate lines for sales, support and billing, or a toll-free plus local combination.

Fees beyond the plan

Fee Amount
Texting registration (one-time) $19.50
Messaging fee $1.50/month
Additional phone number $9/month each
Additional extension (Solo Plus) $3/month each

The texting fees reflect US carrier 10DLC registration costs that every provider passes on in some form.

Annual vs monthly billing

Grasshopper's pricing page shows annual prices and states annual savings of over 20%; it did not display the monthly-billing prices in our check. The practical effect is that the advertised $14, $25 and $55 assume you prepay a year. If you want to try Grasshopper without a year's commitment, start with the 7-day free trial, then confirm the monthly price at checkout before deciding.

Total first-year cost examples

Business Plan First-year cost
Solo consultant who texts clients True Solo + texting fees $168 + $19.50 + $18 = $205.50
4-person team sharing one line Solo Plus + texting fees + 1 extra extension $300 + $19.50 + $18 + $36 = $373.50
8-person company with 5 numbers Small Business + texting fees + 1 extra number $660 + $19.50 + $18 + $108 = $805.50

These figures use annual pricing and exclude taxes and any first-purchase discount. In each case the texting fees are small next to the plan itself; the bigger swing factor is how many extra numbers and extensions you add over the year.

What the price does not include

Grasshopper's model is a virtual phone system: it answers with your greeting and menu, then forwards calls to the phones your team already uses. The pricing page does not list:

  • Call recording
  • AI call summaries or call transcription
  • An AI receptionist or AI agent
  • Business-hours routing details beyond what each plan's forwarding supports

If you need any of these, check with Grasshopper directly or compare with a system that includes them.

Who Grasshopper's pricing suits

Solo owners get one of the lowest-cost ways to separate business and personal calls. At $14 per month on annual billing, True Solo is hard to beat.

Small teams with simple needs get unlimited users on Solo Plus for $25 per month, as long as three extensions are enough. That is far cheaper than any per-user system for a team of five or more.

Businesses with several departments get four numbers on Small Business. Beyond that, each number adds $9 per month.

Grasshopper's pricing is a weaker fit for teams that need to record and review calls, want AI help with voicemail and summaries, or prefer to pay month to month without a premium.

Grasshopper vs per-user phone systems

Because Grasshopper does not charge by user on Solo Plus and Small Business, it gets cheaper relative to per-user providers as your team grows. Consider a six-person team. On per-user month-to-month list prices checked in late September 2026, Quo Starter would cost $114, Nextiva Core $138, Ooma Office Pro $149.70 and RingCentral RingEX Core $180 per month. Grasshopper Small Business costs $55 per month on annual billing for the same team.

The catch is what each price buys. Per-user systems typically include apps, call routing, recording on some tiers, and integrations for each person. Grasshopper's plans are built around forwarding calls to existing phones, with extensions and numbers as the limits. For a team that mainly needs a professional main line that rings everyone's cell, that is often enough. For a team that needs to record, review and hand off calls, it may not be.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • What is the monthly-billing price for my plan, and how much more than annual is it?
  • Can I upgrade from Solo Plus to Small Business mid-term, and how is the difference billed?
  • Is the first-purchase discount applied to annual plans only?
  • How are taxes and regulatory fees shown on the invoice?
  • What happens to my number and texting registration if I cancel or port out?

How Grasshopper compares with Callata on price

Callata Office costs $99 per month, month to month, including five users and up to three local numbers, plus $20 per month for each additional user. It includes unlimited inbound calling and a pooled allowance of 1,500 outbound US and Canada minutes per user per month (then $0.01 per minute), call recording with AI summaries (sentiment and action items), voicemail transcription with urgency triage, ring groups, extensions, hold and business-hours routing, a shared team texting inbox (after a one-time $49 registration, no monthly messaging fee listed), E911 and optional AI agents at $0.25 per minute.

Grasshopper is cheaper at every plan level on annual billing. Small Business at $55 per month (annual) is $44 less than Callata's $99 for up to five users, and because Grasshopper does not charge per user, the gap grows by $20 for each person beyond five (Callata is $159 for eight users). The difference comes down to features: Grasshopper gives you four numbers and unlimited extensions; Callata gives you three numbers plus recording, AI summaries, voicemail triage and AI agents.
